The Grassroots Story

Norwalk Grassroots Tennis was founded in 1995 by Arthur Goldblatt, a passionate tennis player determined to provide economically disadvantaged youth with the opportunity to learn the game. While volunteering to offer legal aid in Norwalk, Goldblatt noticed nearby tennis courts and saw an opportunity to make a difference. At Sammuel Roodner Court Housing on Ely Avenue, he asked local children if they were interested in learning to play. With the support of volunteers and a partnership with the Norwalk Housing Authority, Norwalk Grassroots Tennis was born!
