Executive Director

OPPORTUNITY:
Grassroots Tennis & Education (Grassroots) seeks a passionate and inspirational leader who is
committed to the success of the organization and is devoted to improving the outcomes of the young
people, families, and communities it supports. This is a unique opportunity to capitalize on the
organization’s assets and successes to date and to further strengthen its programs, infrastructure,
partnerships, and commitment to racial equity and social justice.


The Executive Director provides the leadership of the organization and direction to promote positive
youth development outcomes. The Executive Director leads the organization through programmatic,
operational, and financial oversight in accordance with the goals and values of the Board of Directors
and organizational stakeholders. The Executive Director is responsible for building relationships and
strengthening the Grassroots’ mission within the communities of both Norwalk and Stamford, CT.


The Board is seeking a new Executive Director who will provide strategic leadership; ensure the
development and delivery of tennis and educational enrichment programs, while bringing a fresh
perspective; revisit, refine and implement the strategic plan and vision; leverage Grassroots’ assets,
reputation, and talented staff; galvanize its community and alliance partnerships; implement a staff
development program; drive fundraising efforts; be a strong communicator; and maintain and develop
a strong relationship with the Board.

Grant Writer

           Norwalk/Stamford Grassroots Tennis & Education is a youth development nonprofit committed to fostering character strength and providing the foundation for success through tennis and education. Our mission is to expand awareness and support for our work.

We are actively seeking an experienced, proactive part-time Grant Writer to join our team and lead our fundraising and marketing endeavors.

This position will play a key role in securing funding for our youth development programs. The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying potential funding sources, crafting compelling grant proposals, and managing the grant application process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities that align with the organization's mission and programs.

  • Write and prepare grant proposals, ensuring they are well-researched, persuasive, and tailored to the requirements of each funding source.

  • Collaborate with program staff to gather information and data needed for grant applications.

  • Manage the grant application process, including submission, tracking, and reporting on grant progress.

  • Maintain a grant calendar to ensure timely submission of applications and renewals.

  • Stay updated on grant-related trends and funding opportunities in the nonprofit sector.

  • Assist in developing marketing and communication materials to promote the organization's mission and programs.

  • Collaborate with the fundraising team to develop fundraising strategies and campaigns.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in grant writing for nonprofit organizations is highly preferred.

  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive and compelling proposals.

  • Strong research skills to identify relevant funding opportunities.

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple grant applications simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with grant databases and resources.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Passion for the mission and values of Norwalk/Stamford Grassroots Tennis & Education.

Hours: This is a part-time position, with an estimated commitment of 25-30 hours per week, M-F 9:30 AM -2:30 PM

​

Compensation: The wage range for this position is $25-$30 per hour depending on experience.

Location: This position will be hybrid with 3 days in the office and two days remote
